P For instance, a ship could have 2 strong broadsides of 2 heavy turret sections, perhaps, with only 2 light turrets frontback. Or a strong front section with the only heavy sections at 310, 0, 50. Making ships good at something but weak at another is the base of game balance. ![]() Merely knowing a targets ship class shouldnt automatically tell you its turret coverage without ever having seen it before. I know the limitiations there but if the only distinction between ships is their graphical look, theres not much exploration or incentive to catch them all. As for OTAS M2 Tartarus, I cant say anything about the design, its not greate, but also not bad. Funny thing is, i think its one of his most powerful designs, i think itll look really really good when its textured. A design that offers maximum of firepower with a minimum of effort. What I think of is, if you look at the normal Star Wars Star Destroyer design, if the people would simply elevate the consecutive side turrets, they could lay fire down on a frontal target with all their cannons. Say we have a classical Star Destroyer: Change the layout so the top side has a more steep slope. Then add turrets to both sides so their line of sight and shooting clearance is not obstructed by the foregoing turret. ![]() Then if you add the standard topside armament, those can, given the slope and going with line of sight, shoot at that target too. That makes the combined might of both sides and the topside armament pointed at one single target. Sure youd have to manouvre yourself so you have the enemy right in that sweetspot, but the amount of hell you could unleash would be disproportionate to the size of the ship if compared to conventional layouts in the X universe.
